It’s hard to believe it’s been a week, but here we are folks, with another Friday in the books!
How was your week? Mine, as usual…lol, did not go as planned, but I am learning that that’s usually a good thing.
I actually got a call back from the voicemail lady I spoke about in Wednesday’s post. Her name is Dawn, and she is a fantastic human being. She first called yesterday, to let me know that she had just gotten my voicemail. It doesn’t sound like the first billing person I spoke with did anything with the information I gave her back at the end of April (no surprise there), so Dawn was just starting to dig into things, with the information I had provided in my voicemail.
She called me back again today, to let me know that she had resolved my issue. Basically, I should have been billed for the additional images, but because I was told that I was not going to be billed by the person who scheduled my visit, she was canceling the charges. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, but then she said something that hit home with me. Dawn said that she always does the right thing. She said has been at this long enough to know when someone is being sincere, and when someone isn’t, and, in my case, she believed me, so she was canceling the bill, because that was the right thing to do.
That, my friends, is the right way to live! And Dawn saying those exact words meant something to me, because that is how I live my life, and in turn, how I run the business. We (all of us, I told you before, I love my guys, and this is one of the many reasons why) always do our best to do the right thing. It can be hard when it isn’t the easy thing, or the most profitable thing, but not doing the right thing just isn’t an option for us, because it isn’t just business, it’s who we are.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you, right? It’s the Golden Rule. We’ve all heard it, and whether you are a Christian and recognize the sentiment from the Bible or not, it really isn’t that tough of a concept to grasp. I, personally, expect a person to be true to their word, because I am true to mine. I expect to receive the item or service that I pay for, because I provide the service that my customer pays for, and then some, when possible. I was raised to not only do, but to do more when I can, and I do that in life in general and in business.
So why am I so often disappointed in people, and how many of you can relate to that feeling? Lol…I don’t expect people to do more, I know that not everyone has that gift, but why do so many people believe that they can do less, or nothing at all, and that the rest of us should not only be ok with that, but also still do for them?!?
I am going to leave it here for today. This is a topic that has stumped me for years. I know that I am different (I have always preferred the word “unique”…lol), and I am completely ok with that – we all are, and in my opinion, that’s part of what makes us each amazing in our own way – but I don’t believe that treating people in a way that you yourself would not like to be treated is part of that. I would love to live in a world where each person was literally treated the way that that person treats others…lol…and I know a few people who I would like to have live there with me! Perhaps if they had to deal with themselves for even a minute, they would try to be better people.
Dawn, however, is not one of them. She is already an amazing person, and if she happens to see this, I hope she realizes just how much I appreciate her. Thank you, God, for sending her my way! I really needed her this week, and, hopefully, something that I have done or said has helped someone to get through their week too.
Much love to all of you, with Hope and Faith!
